Arcata

Day one and a bunch of hours into the trip. We passed Cashe Creek, a fairly famous Indian casino located next to highway 101, named after it's location and not after its revenue.

First picture after arrival. This is RJ, Diana's brother's appartment. D just inflated the queen sized mattress and is testing it out.

I don't know if this is a typical Arcata freezer, but this one contained only one item. I presume that you can guess what's hiding in that container. Hint: It's green, has a pungent smell and gives the consumer an indescribable desire to eat and drink, digestible or not.

Maybe not the best view in the world, but this is what you see outside the apartment window; a 24/7 towing company with various "souvenirs" spread around their property.

While RJ was in school (he had a test) me and D decided to check out the marsh . This is the marsh house.

An insight of a part of the marsh.

Pose time....

....and once more....

One of the first tries to be somewhat artistic.

And I consider this the second try. It was foggy around the marsh and covered the grass and other plants in dew even though it was around 2 PM.

Once RJ got back, we decided to hit the beach. The water is always cold so the beaches around here are not used for bathing. Instead, you are allowed to drive your vehicles on them. What Diana and RJ are walking on is the wave barrier.

Pose time...still on the barrier.

Here is a view of the beach. Not really inviting to bust out the shades and the towel. Beautiful in its own right nonetheless.

One of many leftovers of ships that was laying on the beach. I have no idea what this thing might come from. Engine?

Despite the fact that this is a beach as well, this is a different one later that day. For some reason, someone decided to begin a car dump here. Very bizzare.

A close up on one of hundreds of engines.

I'm trying to be artistic again. This time Diana is the victim. Turned out pretty darn good.

This is the last day. We woke up fairly early to prepare for a day long adventure. Stop number one is the town of Trinidad. If you bust out a map, you can follow our trip by tracing highway 101 north.

The view the Trinidians have. Magnificent.

Same place but to the right.

Next stop was Lady Bird Johnson Grove. It is one of many "untouched" redwood state parks. One of few free ones I should add.

Yet another artistic picture alá MockY.

We found mushrooms along the path. These looks like swedish "kantareller".

These trees are young and not at all close as huge as the others, but it still shows you how magnificent these trees are.
